The Obsidian Court
In the diplomatic calm of Asokoro, The Obsidian Court asserts itself through contrast, precision, and controlled drama. The composition is a deliberate interplay of solid and void clean white volumes punctuated by deep charcoal planes and a striking vertical slab of dark stone that anchors the façade like a monolith.
The architecture leans into hierarchy. A recessed central entry, framed by double-height glazing, creates a quiet sense of arrival, while flanking volumes project confidence without excess. Horizontal and vertical lines are carefully balanced, giving the building a composed rhythm rather than a chaotic expression.
Material selection does the heavy lifting: textured concrete, smooth render, and polished stone are layered to create depth without relying on ornamentation. The glazing is tall and unapologetic, pulling natural light deep into the interiors while maintaining privacy through proportion and placement not gimmicks.
Upstairs, a softened edge emerges. The introduction of greenery along the terrace breaks the rigidity, adding life to an otherwise disciplined form. Subtle lighting details trace the architectural lines at dusk, turning the building into a restrained but unmistakable presence.
This is not loud luxury. It’s controlled, intentional, and slightly intimidating the kind of residence that reflects power without needing to explain it.
